Fall Beauty/Fashion Resolutions

We all make New Years Resolutions, but what about each individual season? I've been writing my goals down since I was able to write, but now I've started to section them into season. Leaving all the boring, personal ones behind like "Save more money for school" (Yeah, right) I wanted to share some Fall beauty/fashion resolutions and hopefully hear some of yours! I think it's good to set beauty and fashion goals because then you have clearly set out some of the things you want to try. Here it goes!

1. I'd like to try more dark colored lipsticks. And I'm not at all talking blacks or super dark purples. That's fine for some, but just not my style. I'm almost always wearing pink lipstick. I might throw a coral in there every now and then, but that's as crazy as I get. I want to try some wine colors, maybe some more bronze-y shades, and oh my lord maybe a RED LIPSTICK? I've always been nervous about red, but I want to try it! College is the perfect place to try looks because the people I see have no clue who I was before that day, so they can't judge or see it as different.
2. Slouchy socks with boots. I think this is such a cute look, and I have quite enough boots to pull it off. I've seen it in about every magazine, and I absolutely love it. I think for my area, any type of fashion "risk" is going to be looked at funny, but at school I'm known to be one of the very few girls who actually dress up for class. I hate wearing sweatpants, and dressing down for me is wearing jeans. But anyhoo, I want to try this!
3. Try the pin up look, a dramatic version. Not the cutesy, doll eye lashes and that's it. Kandee Johnson has a very fun pin up girl look that actually looks accurate, it isn't just big eyes. I want to try that look maybe for a night out, because the lips are pretty dramatic. But it looks like so much fun!
4. Combat boots + LBD = A hot night out! I've seen chicks like Miley Cyrus sport this look many times, and it looks so badass yet still sexy. I have combat boots and I have worn them with more girly outfits to edge it up, but never with a sexy LBD, and I really want to try it!
5. High Waisted Shorts or Pants. Very risky, for me at least, because I already have hips so I don't need to add to it. However, I saw a photo of Kim Kardashian wearing some cute high waisted pants and I read more on it and as long as it is a dark wash, us hippy girls are safe. Also, if there are buttons going down in a sailor type style, that actually slims you down. So I'm off to find those, probably at Forever21.
6. False Eyelashes. I know, I know, someone out there is saying "THAT'S your goal?" but I really have never worn them except for 2 times for a costume. But the thing is, I have long  eyelashes already, and I don't want to look nuts. But I feel like if I wear them on a night out with all things amped up, it'll look good.
7. Darker colored nails. Also something some girls might be shocked by, but typically I stick to pastel colors on my nails, but I want to stick to the seasons for once. Like lipsticks, I want to try more wine colored polishes and plums. I have them, I just need to use them. I picked out a ton from Wet n Wild and NYC because they were a buck each, so if I don't like it, I didn't lose as much as I would have had I chosen Essie.

So that's it for now, but I'll add as I feel them come along. Please, please share yours! They might inspire some goals of mine! Dont't forget to check out my youtube channel, as well. Toodles!

Fashion Pieces That Can Work With Every Style & Book Recommendation

I strongly strongly recommend picking up the Seventeen Guide to Style either online or at your local bookstore, because this book has made me so giddy happy lately because it has so many good fashion ideas not only for any girl's style, but for any time of the year! It has inspired me so much, and has even made me curious to try new things. So I think any girl with any level of interest in fashion should totally get this book as soon as possible!

Anyhoo, here are pieces that can work no matter what style you have. I think when we start to think that certain looks can only have certain pieces, we put ourselves in a box, and I don't want to be like that and I'm sure most of you don't either. So hop out of that box and try something new!

1. Floral dresses.
I love these so much and I have wayy too many, but they really are very versatile! You can make them super girly by pairing them with nude heels or a cute little sweater, or you can make it look a little more bohemian by adding some cowboy boots or a vintage looking scarf or feather earrings. To make it look more edgy or grunge looking, I like to add some combat boots or a leather jacket. I think as long as you add touches that reflect your personality and style, you can always rock a floral dress and make it your own.

2. White tees
A white tshirt is a basic that anyone should have no matter what style you have. Pair this with a flowy floral skirt and some cute jewelry, and some ballet flats and you have yourself a perfect girly look. Or, pair this with a flowy, long maxi skirt, some brown gladiator sandals and a fun, floppy sunhat and you have yourself a boho look. And to make this look a little more edgy or have a rocker vibe, pair it with black skinny jeans, maybe with some studded accents. Add some motorcycle boots or some edgy cuff bracelets and you have a more in your face look. Also, maybe slashing up the white tee with some scissors will be a great touch, just be sure to keep any holes a few inches apart to avoid any big holes forming.

3. Black Leather Jacket

As risky as a leather jacket may feel, don't be afraid to invest in one! Any girl can rock this look, no matter what style you have. You just have to be creative! To girl it up and make it a little more feminine, pair this jacket with a lace dress and very flirty heels and hair. Consider loose curls to make it a little more girly looking. To make the look more laid back and natural looking, pair it with a maxi dress and keep accessories looking natural as well. If you're an edgy girl already, make your look go the distance with some ripped skinnies and some long chain necklaces. For a rocker hair look to make this look complete for you edgy girls, check out This Video by Kandee Johnson on youtube, she's amazing with hair and makeup. Like I said, anyone can rock leather, you just have to own it! Confidence is key.

4. Graphic Tees

Graphic tees are sometimes viewed as too childish or not sophisticated enough for some looks. They're viewed as a strictly jeans and sneakers type of piece. Well I say hey! Why can't we wear them with whatever the heck we want?! So for you girly girls, take a tee with a girly saying or picture on it and pair it with a floral skirt in colors in the same range. For girls with a more boho look, take a tee with more natural vibes to it, like a tee with a feather design on it or one of these cool Tiger Tees from Forever21 and pair it with some long flared jeans or a fun maxi skirt. Just be sure to maybe tuck part of the shirt into the maxi skirt to avoid being lost in the skirt's length and give yourself some shape. To give this look more spunk, throw on that leather jacket I mentioned, or some lightwash skinnies and combat boots. Also, pick a tee with some spunk too! Maybe a shirt with your favorite band on it.

5. Denim Jackets

This is probably one of my most worn pieces. A jean jacket goes with so many looks, you're definitely getting your moneys worth. And my favorite way to score this piece? Vintage thrift stores! Remember the 80's? Well, I don't because I wasn't born then but I've seen the pictures. Denim was in! And guess where everyone's jean jackets from the 80's are now? Thrift stores! So go find some! Make it your own with some fun pins or patches. Anyhoo, to girl up this piece, pair it with a sundress or a sheer blouse. These go well with natural looks by choosing one that is more loose in a lighter wash, and pairing it with a maxi dress and cute sandals.  Pair this jacket with some black leggings, your favorite rugged boots and a long, loose tank and some fun jewelry and you've got a more edged out look.

So there's just 5 pieces that I think can be tossed and turned into any type of style you want! Don't be afraid to purchase something just because you don't think it fits your style. Style takes confidence, not following the leader. So go out and buy that studded cuff bracelet or that floral belt, and incorporate it in your style!

Please leave your own ideas on this topic, or maybe some pictures of how you take unexpected pieces and throw them into a different style!!

Bargain!

I recently purchased some lipsticks at the drugstore that completely shocked me with regards to price and quality. They are the NYC and Wet and Wild lipsticks. If you're looking at the sections for each of these brands, they're usually at the very bottom, because of course the stores want you to look straight ahead or upward, so you buy the more expensive items. That's beside the point. These lipsticks are perfect, they are LESS than a dollar, I think 93 and 98 cents, and they have SO many different shades, some are matte and some are shimmery. Also what I like about these shades is that they have see through caps, so you see what color you're picking out to wear, instead of having to open up the product. Also, the sticker on the bottom matches the color, so you can pretty much pick how you want to store them. The only thing I could complain about is that the Wet and Wild ones didn't have color names, they only had numbers on the product. But that's not a problem. I got so many of them! They have so many shades and I think this is great for those of us who want to experiment with colors we wouldn't normally wear, without spending 5 bucks on a shade we might not even like. Also, the smoothness of the lipstick is just as good as some more expensive lipsticks I have. They also have great staying power. So go ahead! Buy a ton of lipsticks next time you're at Walmart or CVS or wherever, because they're only a buck! Why not try a deep red shade you wouldn't normally wear, or a mauve color! Happy Shopping ladies!

Favorite Nail Polishes for Summer!

So I know I'm not the only girl who gets super excited to paint my nails during the summertime. During the winter, it is fun, but summer has just such a different mood to it, and the colors are just different. You get to show off your toes and use bright colors you wouldn't normally use! For me, summer is when I paint my nails, pretty much every week. Just because I have so many fun colors that I only use during the summer, I want to keep it different! So I'm going to share my favorite nail polishes for this beautiful season. Feel free to comment with your own faves! Most of these are very inexpensive as well.

1. ELF Nail Polish in Gum Pink. For only a buck, I don't know how someone could pass ANY of this website's nail polishes. They are so inexpensive, and actually have quite good quality. Depending on the color, you might have to do 2 or 3 coats, but it just depends. This color is a lovely pink color that definitely reminds me of bubble gum. It's a light pink that isn't too light, but isn't too bright either. It's a very girly color, which is perfect for those outfits that have a lot of frilly, lacy, or ruffly details to them. And did I mention it's a dollar?!
2. Caribongo Sun Activated Color Change Nail Polish. This polish is genius! I love it love it love it! I bought this when I was in Florida, but they have polishes like this almost everywhere during the summer. Basically, the idea is that the nail polish is one color when you apply it, and then when you go out into the sun, it changes color! I love that! This particular color, which doesn't have a name, I'm sorry :( goes from a light, peachy pink to a cute, fun orange creamsicle color when you're in the sunlight. The bottle says to apply two coats. I know there are many brands that offer polishes like this, and they come in so many variations, you're bound to find a color combo you like!
3. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color in Fast Lane Fuchsia 03. This is probably my number 1 nail polish for summer. It is a very bright shimmery pink color, and it is definitely eye catching. I also think that it makes my summer glow kind of pop a little more, especially when I apply it to my toes. It's such a gorgeous color, depending on what you wear with it, it could be considered a girly feminine pink, or a bold, wild pink color. Also, the brushes on these polishes are genius, they make it so much more easy to apply the polish because they are flatter instead of a round brush. And they definitely dry a lot faster, too!
4. ELF Nail Polish in Lilac. This very pretty lavender color is perfect for summer. It is so girly and flattering on ANY skin tone, and also only a dollar, I'm surprised it wasn't sold out when I bought it. It definitely brings out tan skin, and is so flattering and pretty I think it is a must have for any girl. Like I said, these polishes are great quality for only a buck, what more do you want?
5. Sephora by OPI Nail Colour in IM Beauty 271. Sephora was having a sale when I bought this, it was only a couple bucks, and I'm not too big on orange or yellow polishes so this was a risk for me, and I'm so glad I bought it! This color is a buttercup yellow, and it goes on perfectly smooth, with maybe 2 coats. The yellow isn't too bright like a neon yellow, but it isn't too washed out either. It's a perfect bright color for summer, and I think it's a color that is better used in summer than other seasons. This is another color that I think flatters any skin tone and also brings out the tan glow we love to get in the summertime. I definitely recommend checking this out on Sephora's website.
6. Last but not least, Essie Nail Lacquer in Meet Me At Sunset. I won this in a contest on facebook, and let me tell you I was so happy when I received this. This is one of the polishes in the Braziliant collection by Essie, and it is a perfect summer color. It's a bright red/orange/pink mix of colors, and it comes out perfectly. I love this very tropical shade for summer, and I love it on my toes. This color is eye catching and gorgeous, and I do realize Essie is kind of expensive (at least for me) but these colors are too gorgeous to pass up. If you are in love with one of the colors, I would spend that extra money for it. Some nail polishes are just too cute to pass up. If anyone has a dupe for this color please share!

So those are my faves! I hope everyone is having an awesome summer, and please share any thoughts you have about summer nail colors or brands! Love you all!
