Newly discovered way to curl hair - No heat, and no dent in hair from clips!

So before I start this, you should know that I have awful hand-eye coordination and am extremely clumsy when it comes to using a curling iron. I'm also impatient and hate that when I try to use a curling iron it takes me an hour or so just to create the perfect look - and it never ends up perfect anyway! Sometimes I end up burning myself - and then comes the awkwardness of having to explain to people that no, it is in fact NOT a hickey, I simply can't maneauver a curling iron without harming myself. Anyway, sometimes you get that little dent at the very top and bottom of your hair when using a curling iron because of the clamp, which is annoying. Now that the curling wands without clamps have come out, it has become much easier, but I'm still clumsy, so I've still been trying to find other ways. Hot rollers still sometimes give you that dent because of the clips you put on after rolling the hair, so I had almost just decided to give up on curls forever and accept my hair to be wavy or straight forever (I can actually work a straightener - go figure) until I found these.

They're the CONAIR Pillow Soft Rollers. The packaging of mine is different because I actually bought the 24 pack and I couldn't find a picture and of course, my camera is going nuts! So this will do. So mine came with 24 and the picture of the gorgeous bouncy red hair is different but oh well! These rollers are so amazing and I don't know how long they've been out for but I just discovered them at a Rite-Aid and I wasn't even looking for rollers but I was buying a hairbrush I believe and I just noticed the huge section of rollers. I have a hot roller set and rarely get to use them because of how tricky they are - you have to pick the right size (and of course it only comes with a particular number of that size) and then worry about the clips, and wait for the set to heat up, etc. Anyway, I noticed these right away because they weren't the typical round cylinder shaped roller, so I grabbed them right away to try. Plus, it was a 24pack for 10 bucks! Pretty sure I've never gotten a nice set for that cheap. (I don't know if they're always that price or still that price but that was mine!) So I've used them many many times, and I thought maybe a Pro/Con list would be a good way to show you all what I liked/didn't like.

Pros

1. So incredibly easy to use. The roller's inside contains a wire, so there is no clip or clamp involved, which eliminates that dent problem. You just roll the hair around the roller and twist the wire like you would if you were tying one of those green twisties around a bag of fruit at the grocery store. (Is twistie the correct term? Oh well!) It's that easy.
2. There are no sizes. Which might matter to some, but to me that's great because I don't need to fish out a small or big roller, they're all the same! I feel like you can control the size of your curl if you really wanted to. For example if I want a tight spiral I'll just wrap the hair around the roller very tightly.
3. You can actually sleep in them. And I don't mean sleep awkwardly with a shower cap over your curlers and wake up looking like Mufasa. I mean you sleep comfortably, and the rollers stay in place for the most part. Because they're spongey and pillow soft they're very comfortable.
4. You can use these on wet or dry hair, which may not be that different from other rollers, but I don't like to put my wet hair onto a hot roller, doesn't feel right.
5. I have a lottttt of hair, and I didn't even use the whole 24 pack. I had some leftover rollers and was still fully satisfied.
6. Cheap!

Cons

1. I really don't have any cons... but the only one I can think of is that a few of my rollers have worn so that the wire kind of sticks out a little, which wasn't a big deal because I just pushed it back in. However they are very fragile I supposed when it comes to the material.

So there you have it, they get a total A+. I'm so amazed with how well they work. Typically I just put them in after a shower, throw on some hairspray and hit the sack. A few times I've used them in the morning and went over them with a blowdryer on the high setting and it works just as well. Dry hair is fine too, just be sure to apply some hairspray to set the curls and make sure you wait the right amount of time for the curl to set in. I think these are great for those of us who have issues with handling curling irons or would just rather let our hair curl itself while we sleep! You can just pop these in before bed and wake up with bouncy curls!

Thanks for reading! If you have any other curling products you recommend leave a comment! Or any products in general you'd like me to review. If you'd like to see a certain type of post let me know. I also have a youtube channel I'm trying to get out there but I'm trying to see if I can get some interest first. If you have ideas for future videos, feel free to leave a comment on that, too!

**I did not receive these rollers for free, I bought them with my own money and these opinions are my own. I'm not being compensated for any review and wouldn't accept it anyway.**

imPRESS Press-on Manicure

imPRESS Press-on Manicure by Broadway Nails. "Introducing imPRESS, the revolutionary way to apply polish! Featuring advanced technology, you will get a salon-perfect manicure in seconds, simply peel off, press on, and you're done! No drying time. imPress comes in 36 colors and patterns including trendy brights, fun prints, classic darks, and animal prints."
Ok, so when I saw these I was excited because I love having nails and getting my nails done, so I thought what could be better? But first when I saw the pattern I received I wasn't too excited because I got a white pattern with silver lined detail (sounds cute right?) but then they have splotches of leopard print on them which does look cute and trendy but isn't too my style. However, I looked into it a little more and they do actually have some cute patterns and colors so that's refreshing. Now... I don't know how many of you are informed about the 80's trends, but this just makes me think of the press on nails from that time. Lee Press On Nails I believe? You peel off the sticker, press on the nail, and... that's supposed to last? I have experiences with glued on nails and even THOSE come off easily. However the package does say the nails only last up to a week. 'Up to' being the key words I suppose. I wish they came in more sizes because I have very teeny nails and they looked like claws on me. :( But they are cute in a lot of other colors.

X Out Your Acne!

X Out Wash-in Treatment. "The makers of Proactiv, America's number one acne system, announce the launch of a new unique one step wash in treatment that washes powerful breakout fighting medicine into pores to help kill bacteria that causes pimples and treat existing ones while moisturizing to protect the skin. With no parabens or sulfates, this product is suitable for all skin types."
I used Proactiv for a bit, and I was not impressed. My acne was still awful and it was until I went to a dermatologist, but with acne, everyone is different. However, I do like this product. It has an exfoliating component to it, and after I wash my face with it my skin feels so clean and soft like my pores have just taken their first breath in years. The beauty of this product is it can be used 3 ways, as a spot treatment, a mask, or facewash. For a spot treatment, it just says to dab on zits, leave on for 10 minutes, then wash out. Same for the mask, except of course you put it all over. For facewash you just scrub your face for 2 minutes and rinse. Now, if you're like me you'd get bored after like a minute. They've thought of that! On the side of the bottle, there's a little thing (I don't know what they're called because I don't have a smartphone) that you smartphone owners can scan, and you'll be redirected to a video that changes everyday to distract you for 2 minutes. I thought that was clever. Just be careful having your phone near water.... So I really like this wash and it has a surprisingly nice scent to it, it isn't harsh at all. It is $19.95 a month, same as regular proactiv, so if you have the bucks, I'd recommend it.

Montagne Jeunesse Products

Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask. "Jam packed with the most delicious natural ingredients and are bursting with luscious juicy fragrances. "
I have tried these masks so many times and they are so wonderful. When I want to pamper myself and have a little night to myself I always have one of these ready to use. They come in so many scents and so many types (for example Dead Sea Mud, Fruit Smoothie, Cucumber peel-off, etc). They're perfect to just put on and maybe take a bubble bath or just lay back and relax and enjoy the scents. Also, they come in single packs that you could probably use twice with all the product you get. And typically they're only a few bucks, so they're perfect for gifts, too! I like to make spa packs for my friends for gifts and I always include a few of these.

For more info on this company visit Montagne Jeunesse's Site!

**I was given this product to test through Influenster's VoxBox Program I've already talked about in previous blogs. Check it out! However all opinions are my own.

NYC - New York Color

This brand of makeup is one of my favorites and I always always always go to that section when I visit the drugstore. I wanted to share some recent buys from them that I love. :) To get more information about the company or products visit New York Color's website.

New York Color (NYC) Liquid Lip Shine. "Straight from the city that never sleeps New York Color's Liquid Lip Shine is uptown style at a down to earth price. With pure pigments that create a 3d gloss effect with vitamin E that provides shine and moisture, this product is perfect to keep lips looking and feeling fabulous this season. Comes in 10 shades from neutral nude to berries and fuchsias."
I love this lipgloss. I repeat, I LOVE this lipgloss. I received a nude color called "Nude York City-582" and it is absolutely gorgeous, definitely flattering on all skin tones. It is a nude shimmery color with the slightest pink undertone, and it's just perfect. The color reminds me of a cappuccino and as luck would have it, it smells that way too! It has a wonderful coffee infused scent to it, unless that's just me of course, and it's so tempting to lick off your lips. The wand is a little awkward because it is a longer applicator but it is still amazing. And of course being from NYC you know it is affordable. It is only a little over two bucks, who can beat that?! Oh wait, NYC probably could. :D
**I received this product from Influenster, a website I've talked about in the past.

NYC 16 Hour Lipstain
I have this lipstain in Persistent Pink 490, and I love these more than the Covergirl or Revlon lipstains. Not only are they almost half the price, they seem to be less harsh looking on my lips. This color especially looks very natural. They also do last very long as well without looking flaky or dry. If you're looking for a cheaper lipstain that works just as well as the more pricey ones, this one is a perfect choice, and they come in very pretty colors.

New Influenster Holiday VoxBox! Read for reviews :)

Hello lovely readers it is time for another VoxBox from Influenster.com, and this time it is their Holiday VoxBox! I'll get right into it but first I thought I'd point out some things about Influenster. I got into this from a comment on one of my youtube videos and they had a Beauty VoxBox and that's how I got started with it, but anyway, basically you fill in your information and unlock certain "badges" for example I am a student so I have a student badge. Then when they come out with these boxes, they pick certain people with certain badges or characteristics that they're looking for. You test the products and take a survey about them, and/or review them for others to see! So if you're interested please check out Influenster's website to read more! Now I'll get into the products...

I have yet to try these because I got my nails done recently and I'm not going to butcher those just to try these press on things. I'll follow up though!

2. Softsoap Coconut Scrub Bar Soap. "Renew your skin with new softsoap coconut scrub bar soap. Enriched with crushed coconut extract, this bar soap gently exfoliates to renew your skin's surface, while helping retain natural moisture for soft, supple skin. Also comes in two other exotic fragrances: Juice Pomegranate & Mango Infusions and Sweet Honey suckle & Orange Peel."
Soap! Everyone loves soap. I happen to have this product already so I can speak from experience. I love the fact that the soap exfoliates your skin, and it doesn't just leave your skin feeling filmy and oily like some soaps can. It leaves your skin truly feeling soft and clean just like when you exfoliate your face. I am not a fan of things coconut so the scent isn't my favorite but it does smell nice. Inexpensive, definitely worth the purchase if you don't want to buy super expensive exfoliating body products.

3. Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask. "Jam packed with the most delicious natural ingredients and are bursting with luscious juicy fragrances. "

5. Mentos Pure Fresh Gum. "We're sure you know Mentos, but did you know they have a sugar free gum? Whether it's before a holiday party, date or meeting, pop Mentos pure fresh gum for a quick refresh! The crunchy outer shell conceals a green tea extract core that provides an immediate burst of coolness for long lasting fresh breath. Its unique container keeps gum protected in your purse!"
Who doesn't love a nice pack of gum? I love original mentos so I assumed this would be a winner, and I was right. My pack is already empty and was empty after a few days. First, the container is perfect because I hate when I have to unwrap a piece of gum and then I have to toss the wrapper in my purse, which makes for a messy purse. I like that the gum comes in the container unwrapped and you can just pop one in your mouth! It's definitely a cooling gum and adds a nice freshness to your breath when you need a pick me up.

6. Larabar. "Made from only 2-9 ingredients, each larabar is a delicious blend of just fruits, nuts and spices. Pure and simple, just as nature intended. Larabar comes in 19 delicious flavors."
So I received  Coconut Cream Pie, and as I said, I hate coconut. Lucky me, right? So I gave this product to my mom, who ate it right away and loved it. She described them as smooth and a nice treat for during the day or a snack. The other flavors sound DELICIOUS for example Peanut Butter Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Lemon Bar, etc.

7. The Beauty Blender - A Revolution in Foundation Application

So I know a lot of people already know about the beautyblender, but I just tried it, so now it's my turn to rave about it and go nuts for it. This little pink sponge is the perfect tool when it comes to making your face look next to flawless. If you are unaware of the beautyblender, it is a little egg-shaped pink makeup sponge, the sponge itself costs around 20 dollars, but they also have different combo packages you can purchase to save some money. I recently purchased the package from Cherry Culture where you receive two beautyblender sponges and the beautyblender cleanser. This package was $39.95, which I do realize is super pricey for us bargain shoppers, but I felt the need to risk it. And I'm so happy I did! It is so soft and my face definitely looks flawless after I apply my foundation. And best of all, you can use this for cream blushes or concealers! There's a larger round end that is perfect for stippling your foundation or blush on, and there's a more pointed tip end for applying foundation or concealer to the eye area. The only thing you must remember when using the beauty blender is to completely wet it before using. You should run it under water, squeeze out excess water and wrap it in a towel until it is damp, but not dripping at all. This is what will give you that beautiful, flawless finish. And also, be sure to use the cleanser after I'd say 1-3 uses, just to be safe. I definitely recommend this product to any girl who's looking for a new way to apply foundation. Any questions please let me know! And check out my youtube channel!
